Keepsake

How to use Keepsake

Keepsake gives every guest at your event a small amount of film. They shoot the night from the inside, and it all lands in one gallery you keep.

For organizers

Creating an event

This part happens in the app.

  1. 01
    Create the event

Open Keepsake and tap Create. Give it a name, a date and — if you like — a venue. Both the venue and its map link are optional, and you can add them later.

  2. 02
Pick a cover and an invitation

Choose a cover photo or use one of ours, then pick an invitation design. If you would rather not have a photo at all, choose "No cover".

  3. 03
Decide how much film everyone gets

Pick how many guests you expect and how many photos each of them gets. Fewer shots is the point — limited film makes people wait for the moment that matters.

  4. 04
    Choose when the photos unlock

Reveal everything at once when the event ends, or let the gallery fill up live. You can also keep the gallery organizer-only, so guests see just their own shots.

  5. 05
Add a dress code, if you want one

Optional, and skippable. Add a note and a few reference photos, and your guests will see them on the invitation.

  6. 06
    Share the invite

Share the invitation straight from the app, or print the QR code and put it on the tables. Both point at the same event.

For guests

Joining an event

No account and no download needed.

  1. 01
Point your camera at the QR code

Open your phone’s normal camera app and point it at the event QR code. Tap the link it offers. If you were sent a link instead, just tap that.

  2. 02
    Add your name

So the organizer knows whose photos are whose. No account, no password, and no download needed to join.

  3. 03
    Shoot your photos

You get a set number of shots. Take them across the night rather than all at once — once they are used, they are used.

  4. 04
    Wait for the reveal

Depending on how the organizer set things up, everyone’s photos appear when the event ends, or fill in live as they are taken.

Frequently asked questions

Do my guests need to download the app?

No. Guests can join, take their photos and see the gallery entirely in their phone’s browser. The app is nicer — it keeps every event you have attended in one place — but nothing about joining requires it.

Do I need an account to join an event?

No. Joining asks for your name and nothing else. You only need an account if you want to create your own events, or keep a history of the ones you have been to.

How many photos does each guest get?

Whatever the organizer chose when creating the event — often a handful. The limit is per guest, and the count is enforced by our servers, so it is the same however you join.

When do the photos become visible?

The organizer decides. They can reveal everything at once when the event ends, let the gallery fill in live during the night, or keep it organizer-only, in which case each guest sees only their own photos.

Can I delete a photo I took?

Yes — your own photos are yours to remove at any time. Organizers can also remove any photo from an event they created, so there is always a way to take something down.

What if I lose my phone or reinstall the app?

If you joined as a guest without an account, your photos stay in the event but your device is no longer recognised as their owner, so you will not be able to delete them. Creating an account before the event avoids this.

How long are photos kept?

An event’s photos are deleted three months after the event ends. The event itself stays in the organizer’s history, and we email the organizer about a month before anything is removed.

Can I scan the QR code from this website?

Use your phone’s own camera app instead — it reads the code natively and opens the invitation, or the app itself if you have it installed. That is quicker and more reliable than scanning through a browser.

Is there a limit on how many guests can join?

The organizer sets a guest limit when creating the event. Once it is reached, no new guests can join — though anyone already in the event can always come back to it.

What does it cost?

Keepsake is free to use right now. If that changes, the price will be shown clearly before you create an event, never after.
